Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Meets December 8th
Silver Springs, Nevada – Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties holds its December public meeting and holiday brunch on Thursday December 8th at 9am at the Silver Springs Community Center.
Acting director Wendy Madson explained that the gathering will include a “celebration of Christy McGill, who was Healthy Communities’ Executive Director for more than a decade.” McGill has accepted a position in the Office for a Safe and Respectful Learning Environment at the Nevada Department of Education.
McGill’s brand of leadership inspired a number of cross-sector, regional initiatives that operate using models of collective impact, namely, 1)a Healthy Food Hub that increases access to locally grown, affordable food; 2) a Health and Wellness Hub that increases access to affordable medical, dental, behavioral health and vision services and education about healthy lifestyles and 3) a Community Development Hub that increases workforce development, leadership training, and shared grant writing among multiple agencies.
McGill will be passing the baton to Wendy Madson, who also “leads from the middle” and sets a high standard for inclusiveness and multi-level collaboration.
