Holiday Open House this Saturday at Silver Saddle Ranch
The historic Red House will be open for tours. The event is free.
Activities include a roaring fire, history on the ranch, a visit from Santa with photo opportunities, activities for kids, as well as refreshments including hot apple cider, cocoa and coffee, cheese, salamis and crackers, fruits and vegetables.
The Silver Saddle Ranch is an 800 acre ranch on federal land that will eventually become Carson City open space and considered a park. The ranch was built in the 1930s and today offers passive recreation opportunities.
To get there take East Fifth Street to Carson River Road, the first road after the roundabout. The entrance is on the right.
The event is hosted by Friends of the Silver Saddle Ranch, a group dedicated to the preservation of the ranch and its cultural, historical and natural resources as both open space and a working ranch. Find them on Facebook here.
