Leisure Hour Club Recognizes WNC Scholarship Recipients
The Carson City Leisure Hour Club continues the celebration of its 119th year on Wednesday, November 18 with recognition of the five Leisure Hour Club scholars at Western Nevada College. The meeting is preceded by a buffet dinner at 6:30 in the Carson Nugget Capitol Ballroom.
For the past several years, the Club funded merit scholarships for five graduates of Carson City, Douglas and Dayton high schools. The 2015 Leisure Hour Club Scholarship recipients are: Carly Talia - Douglas High School, Hannah Higginson - Douglas High School, Amanda Weaver - Douglas High School, Emily Woods - Carson High School, and Rogelio Aqui - Douglas High School.
If you would like to attend the event, please call Dorothy Link at (775) 885-2542 no later than Thursday, November 12th to make your reservation. Reservations for dinner are required. The Leisure Hour Club, established in September of 1896, is Carson City’s oldest continuously operating social organization. Its goal is promoting knowledge on important issues, science, music and literature.
