  • Everything Halloween

Trick or treating at the Governor's Mansion is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Gov. Joe Lombardo and First Lady Donna Lombardo will be handing out candy on the mansion steps, as is tradition. My advice: get there early if you want to beat the lines!

Kids N Paws Trick Or Treating

Dress up the Kids and your Pups and come trick or treating at MidTown Marketplace on Thursday, Oct. 31st from 3:30pm-6:30pm. We have over 40 in-door vendor booths for your kids and pups to trick and treat. MidTown Marketplace is located at 104 Corbett St in Carson City.

Teen Hours in the Digitorium

Edwards Motor Car rides at the Nevada State Railroad Museum

Come down Saturdays and Sundays and take a ride on the historic Tucson, Cornelia & Gila Bend No. 401 Edwards Motor Car. Built in 1926 by the Edwards Motor Car Company, the 401 hauled passengers between Ajo and Gila Bend, Arizona, from 1926 until 1947. Rides occur approximately every 40 minutes from 10:00am until 2:00pm. Fares are $8 ages 12 and over; $4 ages 4-11 and museum members; and FREE ages 3 and under.

Grown Up and Guppies at the Carson City Aquatic Center

Head over to the Carson City Aquatics Center every Wednesday at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. for Grown ups and Guppies. Making the water fun for your guppy is the most important step in preparing for swim lessons. This class is designed to acquaint adult and child wild play activities and to teach very basic fundamental skills. The course is parent-driven, under the supervision of an instructor. No registration required. Class is limited to 12 adult/child pairs on a first-come first served basis. For ages 6 months to 4 years.

The public is invited to see the Carson City Historical Society's exhibit on the history of Nevada Day. The exhibit is in the Carriage House behind the Foreman-Roberts House Museum, located at 1207 North Carson Street, every Sunday in October (Oct. 6, 13, 20, and 27) from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for viewing a Historic Nevada Day exhibit.

Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo announced that Monday that in preparation for a safe and smooth Election Day, he will activate a limited contingent of National Guard personnel to be available on Election Day. The activation will be limited to supporting state and local resources on November 5, 2024.

An 82-year-old California man has been identified in a fatal crash that happened Oct. 14 on State Route 439, USA Parkway in Storey County.

A 65-year-old man was arrested Thursday for suspicion of felony third DUI, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

The Nevada Day Parade in downtown Carson City on Saturday was filled with celebration, culture and camaraderie. Marching bands and local musicians brought rhythm to the streets and filled the air with music and dancing.

UPDATE 11:30AM: Eastern Sierra Fire and Ice, which monitors fires in the region, reports forward fire progress has been stopped per incident command. The fire is estimated at around 3 acres. It is unknown at this time if any structures were damaged.

UPDATE 11:28AM: Evacuation orders have been issued for the vicinity of the fire in the Jacks Valley area of Alpine View Court and Bavarian Drive; Parameters may be viewed on the Perimeter Map here. East Fork Fire and Carson City Fire Department responded Sunday morning to a brush fire in the area of Alpine View Court in the Jacks Valley area of Douglas County.

An early-season storm will bring widespread gusty winds, valley rain around Carson City and surrounding counties and Sierra snow showers Sunday through Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

As the 2024 Nevada Day Parade ended, the fun continued with the annual Nevada Day beard competition. Bob McFadden Plaza in downtown Carson City buzzed with nearly two hours of excitement as the bearded showed off their best.

Central Lyon Fire Protection District will begin open burning on Nov. 1, 2024, pending weather conditions. This decision aligns with fire safety protocols and mirrors burn permit restrictions in place by surrounding agencies, including the Nevada Division of Forestry (NDF), Fernley, Carson City and Storey County.
