Diaper Drive campaign prevails: Awareness Week Committee assists Carson City community
Ron Wood Family Resource Center works with families in need of fresh diapers everyday. The cost of diapers is a struggle for many of our community members. Nicole Hembree and a community of concerned helpers decided to bring awareness to the diaper need for our babies and toddlers.
Carson City Mayor Crowell declared September 26th - October 2, 2016 - Diaper Need Awareness Week.
Nicole spearheaded a goal of collecting 6000 diapers, wipes and miscellaneous baby items during this week. With an outpouring of support by the community, Nicole and her community collected:
— 14, 171 Diapers
— 34,389 Wipes 57 Containers of ointment
— $245.00 in cash donations
— Several baby related items such as bibs, cups and utensils
Many businesses, concerned citizens and Carson High School students worked diligently to surpass the goal.
The Dollar Tree ran a campaign to collect items at the register that bolstered the collection efforts.
Thanks to Nicole and our wonderful community, Ron Wood Family Resource Center has diapers and supplies for many families!
