Carson City, Douglas County locals enlist in the United States Army

The Carson City Army Recruiting Station is proud to welcome two of our newest Future Soldiers, Alissa Lucas and Taylor Clark. Alissa Lucas is currently a Senior at Carson High School and a member of the Junior ROTC.

She chose to attend training to be Military Police and will leave after high school graduation. Taylor Clark is from Gardnerville and a 2019 graduate of Douglas High School. She chose to become an Intelligence Analyst and leaves for Basic Training in November. Congratulations to you both for making the decision to serve our country!

Carson City resident Elaine Quilici took these pictures of snow outside of her Carson City residence Friday morning as a powerful winter storm moved into the area overnight.

UPDATE: 9:15AM: Carson City municipal offices are now closed, according to Carson City Deputy Emergency Manager Stacey Belt.
"Due to weather and road conditions, the Carson City Manager and Mayor have closed all local Carson City offices, Friday March 16," she said.
The Clerk Recorders office at 885 East Musser Street will remain open for final day election candidate filings.

Carson City emergency crews are on scene of a four-vehicle accident at the intersection of South Carson Street and Fairview Drive.

The accident is affecting traffic. Motorists in the area can expect delays.

Heavy snow in the Nevada state capital has closed the Carson City Senior Center. There will not be a Meals on Wheels delivery today because of hazardous road conditions.

Fallon and Douglas campuses remain open.

The Carson City Animal Shelter is closed for business today because of heavy snowfall in the region, Nevada Humane Society Communications Director Kimberly Wade said.
