Dayton home destroyed in fire, one hospitalized for smoke inhalation
Central Lyon Fire responded to a structure fire on Grosh Avenue in Dayton at 10:31 Thursday morning. First units arrived on scene at 10:37 a.m. to a fully involved fire in a single family residence.
Firefighters took action to ensure all occupants were accounted for and evacuated. Two attack lines and a master stream were quickly deployed and the fire knocked down.
One civilian was transported to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center with smoke inhalation symptoms.
Central received strong support from our Volunteer Firefighters (Engine 36, Squad 36, and Squad 34) as well as Storey County Professional Fire Fighters, Lyon County Sheriff's Office, and ALS coverage from North Lyon County Fire Protection District.
The American Red Cross of Northern Nevada is providing aid and support to the family.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
