Carson City arrests: 2 captured by SWAT at Palo Verde Drive home face murder charges

Two men arrested early Wednesday at a Carson City home have been identified and now face murder charges in El Dorado County, Calif.

Chase Bomar, 19, and Cody Bomar, 21, were taken into custody after Carson City Sheriff’s Office SWAT responded to assist El Dorado County authorities at a home in the 1200 block of Palo Verde Drive.

The men, both listed as being from Pollock Pines, Calif., were wanted in connection to the fatal stabbing of Jeremy Fortuin, 42, of Pollock Pines. The stabbing happened on Pony Express Trail in Cedar Grove on the west slope of El Dorado County.

Fortuin was found Tuesday with multiple stab wounds. He was treated at the scene and later died. Witness interviews provided authorities information into the altercation. The statements collected led to arrest warrants and information the two fled to Carson City, according to El Dorado County sheriff's authorities.

With the assistance of Carson City Sheriff’s Office SWAT, EDSO detectives were able to locate and arrest the men on murder charges.

In other arrests:
— A 28-year-old transient, Cameron Chase Wellbrook, was arrested Wednesday, 2:11 p.m. in the 200 block of Rawhide Way for possession of stolen property, having a felony fugitive from justice warrant and misdemeanor obstructing, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a deputy going eastbound on 5th Street observed Wellbrook riding a bicycle while carrying a flat screen television.

The man changed his direction of travel after observing the deputy. The officer attempted to conduct a consensual stop of the subject on Goldfield Avenue.

The deputy asked the man if they could talk. Wellbrook replied “sure” and stopped his bicycle. The deputy asked where he was going. The man said he was on his way to a pawn shop to get money for the television he was carrying, saying he retrieved the TV from a friend’s storage unit, the arrest report states.

He consented to a pat down search for weapons. Dispatch alerted that he had a felony fugitive from justice warrant out of South Lake Tahoe Superior Court. As the deputy attempted a further search, the man pulled away and took off running.

Deputies chased the man, southbound on Saliman Street near Como Street then to an apartment complex in the 400 block of Saliman. The officer instructed the man to stop several times. He was warned that if he didn’t stop running he would be tasered and subsequently was, with the taser darts striking his back but due to a large winter jacket, did not have an affect on him, the arrest report states.

The man continued running, with citizens advising on the direction he was going. He was located on Rawhide Way and taken into custody. A records check of the bicycle the man had been riding came back as stolen. The bicycle was valued at $650. Bail: $25,412.

— A 66-year-old Carson City man, Michael George Austin, was arrested Tuesday, 12:29 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Carson Street for suspicion of parole and probation violation. He’s being held without bail in lieu of a hearing.

— A 29-year-old and inmate at Carson City Jail was booked Tuesday for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant. Bail amount was on hold in lieu of a hearing.
