Sierra Nevada Holistic Services makes primary care services available to Carson City
Sierra Nevada Holistic Services (SNVHS) has been in business for the last 5 years. Until recently, the organization’s primary services were massage, energy work, and aromatherapy. The business owner, Andrea Felesina, has since become a dual board-certified family nurse practitioner. With a background in holistic/alternative practice, Andrea seeks to provide the communities of Northern Nevada with an east meets west approach to health care. In a comfortable home environment, Andrea sees patients in no rush pace so that effective communication and care is provided.
SNVHS provides a range of primary care services, from annual wellness visits and preventive care, to acute and chronic care /management of illnesses. SNVHS can assist patients in having access to an ordering provider for needed labs, various therapies (i.e., physical therapy, occupational therapy etc.) or imaging. This bridging service closes the gap between the hard-to-reach medical provider(s) and a patient. Results are coordinated with the patient's treatment team/primary care provider(s) (PCP) for treatment.
SNVHS also works with specialty laboratories for more holistic and functional medicine approaches to wellness for patients. By utilizing a combination of Western medicine and Complimentary Alternative Medicine (eastern-based) approaches, patients are given a more holistic approach to their health and wellness. Moreover, SNVHS can assist patients to obtain needed referrals to specialists for their health care.
We do provide referrals to all modalities of healthcare and wellness providers. Accessing a nurse practitioner may help initiate effective communication between the patient and their PCP; and help the PCP initiate treatment and manage continued care. No insurance is accepted. SNVHS is NOT a CMS/Medicare/Medicaid provider. However, our services are accessible to Medicare/Medicaid recipients, but are not reimbursable by CMS. Employer-paid Direct Primary Care Contracts are available for small to medium business whom are looking to be able to provide medical care as a benefit to their employees whom don’t have insurance or have high-deductible policies.
Additionally, SNVHS offers a variety of injections services. Some patients require medications for supplementation, pain and/or general health. SNVHS provides access for patients to have these medications injected when doing it at home is inconvenient or not an option. This is also an option to learn the technique to do self-injections safely and correctly at home. Types of injection services include:
Medication Injection(s): This service would be for Vitamin B12 injection, testosterone injections or other types of injection administered medications the patient may need assistance with.
Trigger point injections (TPI) or bursa/major joint injection: This may be an option for treating pain in some patients. TPI is a procedure used to treat painful areas of muscle and fascia that contain trigger points, or knots formed when muscles do not relax. Trigger points may irritate the nerves around them and cause referred pain (pain that is felt in another part of the body).
The injection may contain a local anesthetic or saline, and/or corticosteroid or anti-inflammatory medicine. With the injection(s), the trigger point is made inactive and the pain is alleviated. Injection of soft tissues (such as bursa) and joints are a very useful addition to physical or occupational therapies in combating musculoskeletal pain and disability. They are most effective when combined with rehabilitation regimens such as physical therapy.
Finally, SNVHS can provide medical marijuana certification of a patient's accepted health conditions per the NRS 453A.050. SNVHS will help educate patients about safe and effective use of the various cannabinoid products, the benefits and risks of use of a medical certification card, and to introduce the health and wellness aspects of the endocannabinoid system.
These services are now being added to the already established services of massage, meditation/yoga classes, energy work and aromatherapy services. For more information, please visit our website at www.sierranevadaholistic.com or call 775-720-2563. All clients are seen by appointment only.
