Recently, several CHS freshman Biology classes had the opportunity to work with fourth graders from Empire Elementary in Carson City. Students learned about conservation, the water cycle, and the Carson River watershed. CHS students, trained by the River Wranglers conservation group, and on a very windy day, met up with Empire Elementary students at Baily Pond.

Sierra Nevada Holistic Services (SNVHS) has been in business for the last 5 years. Until recently, the organization’s primary services were massage, energy work, and aromatherapy. The business owner, Andrea Felesina, has since become a dual board-certified family nurse practitioner. With a background in holistic/alternative practice, Andrea seeks to provide the communities of Northern Nevada with an east meets west approach to health care. In a comfortable home environment, Andrea sees patients in no rush pace so that effective communication and care is provided.

The Earth Spirit Faire has returned to the Nevada state capital, featuring several craft vendors and practitioners in the healing arts, massage, and intuitive readings inside the Carson City Community Center gymnasium Saturday and Sunday.

Dozens of vendors are expected in celebration of Earth at the annual Earth Spirit Faire held this year at the Carson City Community Center this Saturday and Sunday, April 29 - 30. The faire runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center.

The faire runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Community Center located at 851 E. William Street.

The Earth Spirit Faire benefiting the Heart to Heart School will be held at the Carson City Community Center Gym at 841 East William Street the weekend of April 30th. Admission is set at $7 for one day or $10 for both days, with a discount for younger children and those 6 and under can join in for free. Western Nevada College history instructor and researcher Lane Simonian will offer a free presentation on Alzheimer’s disease on Thursday, April 17, 7 to 9 p.m. on the Carson City campus, in Bristlecone Building room 332.

Lane Simonian, who teaches European civilization at WNC, will focus his presentation on the role that peroxynitrites or potent neurotoxins have in triggering Alzheimer’s disease.

Please come celebrate with us as we officially present Sierra Nevada Holistic Services to Northern Nevada. We are a small but growing holistic health center that currently offers multiple therapeutic massage modalities and treatments, aromatherapy and essential oil blends/products for personal use, energy work such as chakra balancing and Reiki/Shambhalla, meditation classes and private sessions, natural health classes, traditional Thai treatments of cupping or scrapping, and a amethyst crystal BioMat for its healing and relaxing properties.

Introduction to Aromatherapy will provide basic knowledge in the use of essential oils and carriers. No previous experience is required. You will make a product to take with you.
