Carson High School Culinary Arts Pro Start Team again won the Nevada State Pro Start Culinary Arts Competition. This is Carson High's 11th Consecutive State Title.

Carson High sent 2 teams to the state competition in Las Vegas. Each team consisting of 5 team members. They had one hour and only 2 burners to complete a three course meal for the judges. The menu's were pre planned, cost analysis were done and recipes were created. The teams had to bring all the equipment and food to prepare the dishes.

After months of practice it came down to 1 hour to impress the judges.

Six people were injured in a weather related head-on crash Saturday morning on Highway 50 near Zephyr Cove, a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper said. One woman remains in serious condition.

The accident was reported at 8:48 a.m. and involved a Toyota Camry, occupied by five people, three males and two females, and a Volvo, driven by a Carson City resident.

High Sierra Swing Dance Club presents its monthly dance party March 28th at the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom, 449 W. King St., Carson City. CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Despite opposition, Carson City planning commissioners have approved a special use permit for a medical marijuana dispensary.

Tickets go on sale Monday for the inaugural Carson High School Father-Daughter Cinderella Ball, a fundraiser for four different clubs at CHS. The enchanted evening will held at Senator's Castle, Carson High School, on April 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

This community event is open to all ages of girls. One Princess from each elementary and middle school in the Carson City area will be crowned that evening, and one from a pre-school age group as well. There is no age limit for this event.

Carson Comedy is expanding into Carson City and is partnering with the Carson Nugget to further its mission to spread laughter in Northern Nevada. The venue will officially open on Friday, March 6 with fan favorite Sean Peabody at 7:30pm.

Producer Wayne Wright expressed enthusiasm about the new launch on March 6th, stating, “Good comedy is hard to find in Northern Nevada. As long as there is a need for laughter, I will keep bringing in comedians to entertain.”

Two people were flown by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno following an accident tonight on Highway 50 near Second Avenue in Dayton, according to Nevada Highway Patrol dispatch.

The accident was reported at 5:34 p.m. The two flown by Care Flight have non-life threatening injuries, according to NHP dispatch.

Traffic delays were experienced around the accident scene. NHP and Lyon County re-directed traffic. Officers have cleared the scene as of 7:40 p.m., according to dispatch.

UPDATE 10:38PM: Two people were rescued from near the top of Kings Canyon late Friday night, including an 81-year-old woman, after their vehicle became stuck on a trail earlier in the evening. Carson City Search and Rescue reports the rescue part of the operation was completed at 10:35 p.m. with efforts continuing late Friday night to get the vehicle down from the canyon.
An ambulance was called to evaluate the 81-year-old woman.

Carson City Search and Rescue have been dispatched tonight to a vehicle stuck near the top of Kings Canyon. The couple inside the vehicle are unhurt and have cell phone coverage and are warm, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Wildcats Softball opened the 2015 conference season with a triple header against the Golden Eagles of the College of Southern Idaho. The threat of weather looms for the weekend, so getting a jumpstart on the four game series was the goal of Friday's stacked schedule.
