Performers U-Nite: Not Your Average Fundraiser

March 15, 2015 - 4:00pm Dayton, Carson, Reno, and Lake Tahoe artists unite to help raise money for the Dayton Intermediate School's Theatre program to compete in the largest adjudicated educational theatre competition in Nevada.
This is a first for any Dayton School. This will be a night of amazing talent, food, auctions, and prizes! From standup comedians to singers to musicians, it will be a night to remember.
Why the fundraiser? Our theatre program was allowed to compete for the very first time in the Northern Nevada Thespian Festival this past February. This is the largest educational theater conference in Nevada which is an
extension of the largest theater festival in the country for high school an middle schools all over the country.
Well, we not only competed, but we qualified for state in Henderson. If my kids place at state they qualify for nationals! The first for any school in Dayton to go to state for theatre arts! I believe even for all of Lyon county
for middle school level!
Our theatre program at DIS is not a "sanctioned" program which means we were not considered in the school budget.
So, our transportation would not be covered or any expense. Initially, it was a huge disappointment for the children because we had to come up with the money to cover state fees, bus, and hotel accommodations in an extremely short period of time. The total is approx $5,500.
Since we were told just a week and a half ago that we can go, this gives us a short period of time to raise that kind of money. However, between the strong will of parents, local businesses, fellow teachers, and the theatre kids, I know we will raise this money! The support and passion is unreal behind this cause. The opportunity for these students will be an incredible life experience! We are working around the clock raising money and awareness.
Our Dayton Community is really coming together to help! It's a great feeling. We will be hosting a huge benefit called PERFORMERS U-NITE.
The Gold Canyon Cafe, under new ownership, is preparing a delicious Hawaiian buffet in their nostalgic restaurant in downtown Dayton. Have a drink in their Victorian bar! There will be a silent auction with items from beautiful baskets to a weekend in Tahoe.
So many wonderful items up for bid. There will be raffles for great prizes as well. Proceeds will go to help DIS pay for their kids to compete! Come party and support the cause at the same time!
Inclusive price of $20 at the door. Price includes: buffet, coffee, tea, soda, the show, silent auction, and raffle!
