The Rotary Club of Carson City is looking for talented young musicians to take part in the club’s annual music contest. The contest is open to students in the 9th-12th grades, or 14-18 years of age for home schooled or non-traditionally schooled students. After scanning for an empty beach along Pyramid Lake’s 15 miles of shoreline on a brisk January morning, Autumn Harry settled on a spot at Warrior Point where she could cast her fishing line from the sand-colored tufa rocks.

The sun had just come up over the mountains and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. She pulled on her waders and boots, then prepared her fishing line, her practiced fingers tying small knots and attaching a tiny glittering purple fly she made herself to bait the fish.

At 11:30 a.m., multiple units were dispatched to a report of a gas leak in the 5200 block of Highway 50 E., the second gas leak investigation Saturday morning. The first was early this morning in Downtown Carson City.

The reporting party stated they had hit a gas line and could not shut off the gas.

Last weekend, Youth Theatre Carson City’s Showstoppers show choir traveled to Southern California to compete in the Musical Theatre Competitions of America 2022, a national competition with 33 teams representing 19 states and 3 countries, and brought home several major awards.

Early Saturday morning, Carson Street was briefly closed by multiple fire crews and sheriff's office deputies during an investigation of a possible gas leak.

On Tuesday, February 22, 2022 Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL) will resume weekly in person meetings at Partnership Carson City 1925 N Carson St. Carson City.

The Carson City School District (CCSD) is asking parents to mark their calendars for Monday, March 7, when all Pre-K, Kindergarten, new and returning student updates and registrations will begin. This year, there are new Kindergarten Age Requirements for the 2022-2023 school year.

Due to daylight savings time, the Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range will adjust to its spring schedule starting March 1. The Range will be open to the public for drop-in use Tuesdays through Sundays from 7:00am to 6:00pm, weather permitting.

Long-time Carson City judge Robey Willis announced his candidacy for the Ward Three seat on the Carson City Board of Supervisors.

The position, representing residents in north-eastern Carson City, is held by Stan Jones who has stated he will step down at the end of the current term.

A 65-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 300 block of A Street Thursday afternoon for violation of a protective order, a gross misdemeanor.

According to the report, deputies met with a man who stated he had a temporary protective order against the 65-year-old.
