Carson City man arrested for violating stalking order after sending letter demanding money from protected party
A 65-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 300 block of A Street Thursday afternoon for violation of a protective order, a gross misdemeanor.
According to the report, deputies met with a man who stated he had a temporary protective order against the 65-year-old.
He told deputies that about five minutes prior, a woman entered his business and handed him a piece of paper, which appeared to be a letter. The woman stated it was from the 65-year-old man. The letter demanded money from the reporting party, and was signed.
Deputies made contact with the 65-year-old man and asked him if he had sent someone to deliver a letter to the reporting party, and he stated he had his friend deliver it.
The man stated his friend was his “agent” and money was owed to him, which is why he sent the letter.
Deputies asked if he knew about the no contact order, and he said he did, and showed deputies “several temporary protection orders surrounding him.”
Deputies told the man he was in violation of the stalking and harassment order and took him into custody without incident.
Bail: $2,500
