Carson City emergency crews called to structure fire involving two homes
Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies responded late Monday night a fully engulfed structure fire in the 3100 block of Minonee Lane off of Airport Road in which two homes caught fire.
Multiple calls came into dispatch at around 11:20 p.m. regarding the fire in which a home was fully engulfed in fire and evacuated. One person, an elderly man, was rescued.
No serious injuries were reported. According to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, the fire then spread to a second residence. Both homes were said to be heavily damaged.
Three Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were being checked for smoke inhalation. Sheriff Furlong said the officers were fine but were advised to get checked out.
Evacuations were done to homes adjacent to the burning homes.
The fire was knocked down shortly before midnight with firefighters in overhaul mode, flushing out hot spots. East Fork Fire and Truckee Meadows Fire agencies were called to assist on scene and as mutual aid.
NV Energy, Southwest Gas and fire investigators have also responded.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. We will update as more information becomes available.
