Two Carson City Cheer Teams will be participating in national cheer competitions, and need community support in order to compete.

The two capital city teams are the Carson Senators JV Cheer Squad and the Carson City Pop Warner PeeWee Senators cheer team.

The Carson Senators JV Cheer Squad have conquered both their local and regional competitions, and have set their sights on the JAMZ Nationals in Las Vegas.

Carson City is seeking an artist or artist team to design and fabricate a mural on aluminum composite panels that depicts Samuel Clemens (aka Mark Twain), a Carson City legend.

The mural is to be installed on the exterior Robinson Street wall of the Nevada State Museum in Carson City.

The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Bob Crowell Board Room of the Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.

Truckee Meadows Community College political science professor Fred Lokken will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. Prof. Lokken will give his expert analysis of the recent midterm election and look ahead to the lame duck session of congress, the 2023 legislative session, and prospects for 2024, including the possibility of Nevada hosting the first in the nation presidential primary.

After supply chain issues during the pandemic caused widespread shortages, retailers now find themselves with the opposite problem: excess inventory. Agriculture and art meet to showcase the region’s artisans and ag students at the 2nd Annual Ag & Artisan Holiday Faire Saturday, Dec. 3, at the historic Storke Dairy, 876C Centerville Lane in Gardnerville, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Carson High School speech and debate returned home from a successful competition at Spring Creek High School in Elko over the weekend. Twelve schools and 152 students competed at the two day event. Thirteen CHS students participated in the competition with 12 placing in the top 10 in at least one event.

East Fork Fire units responded to the fire in the equipment area and NV Energy is working on the damage. Power has been fully restored for South Lake Tahoe area customers.

CARSON CITY — State transportation contracts announced during Friday's Nevada Transportation Board of Directors meeting are projected to support 1,456 jobs while helping provide a transportation system to keep Nevada safe and connected.
