Carson City Turkey Trot happening Thursday at Governor's Mansion
Thanksgiving in Carson City also means Turkey Trot day for athletic enthusiasts hoping to get in a good power walk or run before Thursday's big meal.
Hosted by St Teresa of Avila Catholic School, the 5K and 8K run and the "Gobble Wobble" kids fun run will be held Thursday at the Governor's Mansion, 606 Mountain Street in Carson City beginning at 8:30 a.m.
There is no same day registration and the registration period ends Wednesday morning. Go here to register and here for the official webpage.
T-shirt pick up and a route map will be available for pick today, Wednesday, at St. Teresa's School, 561 S Richmond Ave, Carson City, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Registered participants will receive a t-shirt. Pumpkin pies and medals will be given to the top 3 finishers for each race (8K, 5K and kids race). There will also be gift cards from Reno Running Company for the top 3 overall finishers.
Organizers will be collecting non-perishable food items at the race to help friends and community members in need. Parking is first come, first serve along surrounding streets.
Race route information can be found here for the 5K race and here for the 8K race. The "Gobble Wobble" is a marked loop from Mountain, to Washington, to Richmond, to King, and back to Mountain streets.
