Carson City arrests: Suspect accused of breaking into residence, stealing vehicle
A 42-year-old woman was arrested early Tuesday morning for multiple felony offenses including alleged home invasion, burglary and vehicle theft, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Michelle Perry of Gardnerville was taken into custody at 2:17 a.m. in Douglas County after an investigation that began late Monday night as a vehicle theft.
According to the booking report, at 10:24 p.m. Monday deputies were dispatched to an Alouette Way residence in reference to a vehicle theft. Dispatch advised the reporting party and victim knew the suspect.
Deputies arrived and saw the door frame of the residence broken in, with pieces of door frame on the floor of the main entrance, along with a footprint on the door with a waffle pattern, the report states.
The victim came to the door and was asked what happened. The victim stated she heard a loud noise from downstairs and saw Perry kick open her door and that Perry began to yell at her. The victim identified the suspect as her ex-boyfriend's stepmother who was angry over custody of children. She heard Perry leave and then noticed that her keys were gone and that her vehicle, which was parked outside, was also gone, the report states.
Deputies learned the vehicle was a black 2003 Ford Expedition with Nevada license places. The victim stated the suspect was wearing blue jeans, a black shirt and Converse shoes.
The investigating deputy notes in the report that the Converse shoes have a waffle pattern like the print on the door.
Deputies began searching for the stolen vehicle. A deputy advised he located the unoccupied vehicle at 2nd and Harbin Street behind the Carson City Jail. Officers dusted for prints in the vehicle and notified the victim the vehicle had been found.
The victim was able to provide investigating deputies with further information about the suspect.
Meanwhile an on-duty CCSO jail sergeant advised Perry had called the jail inquiring about bail. The jail sergeant also said advised there was camera footage of the stolen vehicle.
Deputies made contact with Douglas County dispatch and were able to locate the suspect in Douglas County at around 2 a.m.
Perry was placed into custody and read her Miranda warning, which she said she understood her rights and wished not to speak. She was taken to jail and booked for suspicion of home invasion with forcible entry, burglary and grand larceny of a motor vehicle. Bail: $25,000.
In other arrests:
— A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday in the 1500 block of Old Hot Springs Road for misdemeanor violation of bail conditions. Bail: $3,000 cash.
