We had a taste of fall last weekend. I had to cover my tomatoes and cucumber, which fortunately made it through okay. In some ways I’m ready for the seasonal change, but mostly I would love to have mid-70 temperatures for a couple of more months without freezes at night.

UPDATE: Gusty winds and low humidity forecasted has prompted the National Weather Service to upgrade its fire weather watch to a Red Flag Warning for Carson City, Lake Tahoe and surrounding counties.

On Wednesday, the Carson City Planning Commission voted to deny a proposed Boat and RV Storage project located off of Emerson Drive.

Throughout the fall and winter, the Silver City Schoolhouse will be hosting the Roots Music Masters concert series in Silver City.

Just because summer is over doesn’t mean adventures have to end! Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space is taking teens on adventures on days that coincide with minimum days for the school district.

Every month, the Park Rangers offer various ranger-led programs that include educational opportunities, historical fun and exciting adventures. All programs are offered for free and take place in one of the many Carson City parks and open space areas.

Nevada Lighting, a local lighting and lighting controls representative, donated an 8 X 12 shed, purchased from Home Depot, for the Pre-K Program at Seeliger Elementary School.

UPDATE 8:30 a.m.: The Carson City Sheriff’s Office released the following press release:

On August 28th at approximately 10:59 p.m., Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a mobile home park at 170 Koontz Lane in south Carson City for a reported Domestic Battery With a Deadly Weapon. A teenaged juvenile had reported on 911 that his father had stabbed his mother multiple times. The juvenile also reported that his father had cut himself severely and was “almost beyond help”.

The Carson City Republican Party will hold a Jailhouse Summer Break-Out on Saturday, Sept. 21 from noon to 4 p.m. at the historic Nevada State Prison.

The event features live music, catering by The Busboy, exciting guest speaker and much more.
