UPDATE MONDAY: The suspect in custody has been identified as James Bricky, 42. He was arrested for suspicion of attempted murder, domestic battery with substantial bodily harm, battery with a deadly weapon and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm. He is being held at Carson City Jail. The victim was taken to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center for a stab wound to the neck, and an injury to her head and was later released.

UPDATE 7:41PM: The suspect is in custody and is being interviewed, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Craig Lowe. The victim told deputies she was beaten, stabbed and possibly hit with a hammer. Her condition is unknown at this time.
The man was hiding inside the residence when deputies arrived on scene. Officers used a PA system to order the man out of the home. The suspect, who was covered in blood, began shouting and then came out, said Sgt. Lowe. The scene has been secured. Detectives are investigating. His name will be released Monday.

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies and the Carson City Fire Department responded Sunday evening to a domestic battery in the 3100 block of South Carson Street in which a female was stabbed in the neck.

CARSON CITY — Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, an affiliate of Huntsman Cancer Institute, University of Utah recently added a nurse triage line to provide symptom management to established patients. The nurse triage line coordinates care between the patient, nurses, and physicians at the Cancer Center.

UPDATE: The injured motorcycle rider was treated by Carson City Fire Department personnel and flown via Care Flight to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno, said battalion Chief Jason Danen. His condition is unknown at this time.

Carson City Fire Department was called Sunday afternoon to the Brunswick Canyon area for an injured motorcycle rider in the backcountry. A CareFlight helicopter was ordered and landed in the area near the patient.

On Thursday, first responders were dispatched to the Carson City Costco following a serious injury involving an employee who was apparently crushed by a malfunctioning steel door.

According to one customer who wished to have their name withheld from the story, they witnessed the incident while getting their receipts checked at the exit.

Nevada football’s historic 34-31 comeback victory over Purdue came off the leg of redshirt freshman kicker Brandon Talton.

With the Wolf Pack down 31-14 late in the third quarter, Nevada scored 20 unanswered points capped-off by Talton’s 56-yard field goal as time expired. It is the team’s second-largest comeback since 1996. Talton came into Saturday’s game as the backup placekicker, but he ended the night as the hero.

CARSON CITY – The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles is warning motorists about a speeding ticket scam that has surfaced in the Silver State.

Hackers are sending out emails, purportedly from the DMV, about alleged traffic violations that can only be paid online with a credit card.

The emails demand payment of a fine within 72 hours and contain links for “EasyPay” or to contest the citation.

The Nevada DMV does not issue traffic citations or collect fines, according to Director Julie Butler.

The upcoming Board of Supervisor’s meeting will be held Sept. 5, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, and they’ll be discussing potential purchases and contracts, appointments to the Historic Resources Commission, requests from the Carson City Airport Authority and Public Works, community planning, and more.

Tragedy struck during the annual Lake Tahoe Marathon on August 24 when a 64-year-old El Dorado Hills man died during the swimming portion of the race near Sugar Pine Point.

A 49-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of multiple felony counts burglary and other charges, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Doug Cramer, the owner of Carson City Mom and Pop’s Diner, has been fighting with the city for two years to keep his gazebo which provides shade for his outdoor patio seating in McFadden’s Plaza.

The Carson City Justice Court originally ruled earlier this year that because Cramer did not have the specific permit needed for the gazebo, and because the gazebo is in the public’s right-of-way, he would need to take it down.
