All artists and vendors are encouraged to apply for participation in the 3rd Annual Ag & Artisan Holiday Faire on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the historic Storke Dairy at 876C Centerville Lane in Gardnerville. This is a wonderful event, with children from 4-H and FFA showing their animals, roping demonstrations, animal exhibits, antique farm implements, food and beverages, and a hay auction to benefit our local 4-H and FFA programs.

Our event draws families who want to do a little holiday shopping before the Parade of Lights, making a day of it!

On Thursday morning, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Westcreek Lane in Carson City on report of an illegally parked RV.

When deputies arrived, they found the RV in front of a residence where a man was sitting in the front yard. The man looked at deputies, stood up, and went inside.

Ignacio Prado has noticed a change at Futuro Academy in East Las Vegas ever since the pandemic: More parents are keeping their kids at home if they are sick.

It’s a factor that Prado, the K-5 charter school’s executive director, says is contributing to the school’s absenteeism rates, which decreased in the 2022-23 school year from the year before (from 57 percent to 38 percent) but remains much higher than before the pandemic (28 percent).

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Chris Martinovich, PE, Transportation Manager at Carson City Public Works. He is project manager for Preserve Carson City Roads, a campaign designed to educate Carson City drivers about current roadway conditions, preservation solutions, potential funding sources, and what will happen if sufficient investments are not made to preserve our roads. Chris' presentation will be a status report on progress his project team has made to date.

A water main leak Thursday afternoon on Dayton Valley Road in Dayton has prompted temporary lane restrictions, Lyon County officials said.

A 28-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of felony burglary, possession of stolen property and drug possession among other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

NV Energy and the Nevada Department of Transportation are announcing brief closures of Interstate 580 between northern Carson City and Washoe Valley during the morning of Sunday, Oct. 22 and Sunday, Oct. 29.

The Capital City Community Band will present its annual Nevada Day concert at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, immediately following the parade, in the Capital Amphitheater in Carson City.

Carson City Juvenile Service’s Parent Education Night this Thursday, Oct. 19, will focus on substance use awareness and ways for parents and families to talk to their children about high-risk behaviors.
