On Thursday, the Carson City Board of Supervisors approved a new Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station Policy for the capital city.

Charging stations within Carson City are currently free to use for EV owners. However, with the new policy, utilization of the stations with cost a flat-rate per-hour fee.

Reno Gem and Mineral Society

The Reno Gem and Mineral Society will be presenting their 58th annual Jackpot of Gems Show at the Reno/Sparks Convention Center, September 16 & 17, 2023.

Hours are 10:00 - 5:00, Saturday, September 16 and 10:00 - 4:00 Sunday, September 17.

There will be 31 vendors from around the country Displaying and selling their crystals, rare minerals, and jewelry.

There will be a "Kids Corner" where the children can search for treasures. We will have Gold Panning and a Wheel of Fortune.

There will also be Displays by Members of RGMS showing off their treasures.

This Wednesday, August 23, will be a minimum, early release day for all schools in the Carson City School District.

Lake Tahoe made international news earlier this summer — but not for a positive reason. On July 4, the Zephyr Cove and Zephyr Shoals area were inundated with 6,279 pounds of trash and debris left over from celebrations, the worst in the history of beach cleanups.

Each year, July 5 beach cleanups take place throughout the area thanks to the League to Save Lake Tahoe and dedicated volunteers with Clean up the Lake and other organizations, who worked diligently to remove trash and debris from both the beaches and the water.
