Carson City area weather: Widespread rain, cool temperatures through Monday
With showers overnight between Reno, Carson City and surrounding counties, the National Weather Service says Monday will bring widespread rain and cooler temperatures with an increased risk of flooding for parts of western Nevada and the eastern Sierra.
Remnant tropical moisture from Hilary's produced periods of heavy rainfall across the Sierra and western Nevada. The greatest threat for flooding is across the Basin and Range and the eastern Sierra, NWS forecasters said.
Meanwhile, a flood watch issued for Carson City, Douglas and Washoe counties has been canceled. The flood watch remains in effect for portions of Mineral and Southern Lyon Counties and Western Nevada Basin and Range including Pyramid Lake.
For travelers, the heaviest rainfall was forecast to happen before sunrise. Abundant cloud cover and rainfall will keep afternoon high temperatures 10 to 20 degrees below normal through Tuesday, with Monday likely being the coolest day.
