Due to most Veterans Day parades and other celebrations being cancelled this November because of COVID-19, Nevada Department of Veterans Services produced a video with support from the Nevada veterans and community leaders across the state highlighting what Veterans Day means to them, along with the following anniversaries:

— The 75th anniversary of the end of WWII;
— The 70th anniversary of the outbreak of Korean War;
— The 67th anniversary of the alliance between U.S.A. and the Republic of Korea; and
— The 30th Anniversary of the outbreak of the 1st Gulf War.

Historic Virginia City has always placed a strong emphasis on supporting those who have served our country. A walk down the wooden board sidewalks demonstrates this in the many memorial flags of those who gave their lives in service. Carson Ridge Disc Golf Course work day on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 9 a.m. Meet at the course parking lot at Flint Drive and Rifle Range Road. There will be planned tasks for different levels of physical ability. All volunteers will receive a Carson Ridge Shield Decal.

Gov. Steve Sisolak is asking Nevadans to voluntarily stay home for the next two weeks as COVID-19 cases spike statewide, warning that if the data doesn’t improve over that period he will be forced to take more drastic action.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020 that there are 22 new cases and 26 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 2,185, with 1,867 recoveries and 27 deaths; 291 cases remain active.

Apply to be a Bionics Camp Intern by Nov. 22

The Carson City Library is hiring three interns to assist with a series of three-day Bionics Camps to be held in 2021. Carson City high school students who are interested in assisting with Bionics Camps are encouraged to apply by Nov. 22.

Carson City and our Northern Nevada region are seeing a slow, but steady increase in the number of COVID cases. Noticing this, and acting on recommendations from the U.S. Surgeon General and the American College of Surgeons, Carson Tahoe decided to temporarily suspend non-emergent or non-time-sensitive surgeries through Nov. 22, in which time it will be reevaluated.

For the second year, the Ron Wood Family Resource Center in Carson City has received a generous donation of more than 2,700 pair of Bombas socks to give to those in need around the community.

The Carson City Host Lions Club is pleased to announce the winning entries in the Nevada Day Chalk Art Contest held on Oct. 31. Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. The individual was a Carson City resident. CCHHS is also reporting 21 new cases and 15 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region.

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol were called early evening Monday evening for a single vehicle rollover in the area of southbound I-580 near the North Carson exit.

English Language Learners At-Home Program founder Florence Phillips received Nevada's highest volunteer honors with a lifetime recognition award for the all-volunteer, nonprofit Carson City-based program she established.

The gate located at the Carson City trailhead, Ash to Kings Trail, will be closed beginning Monday, Nov. 9. The Ash Canyon Road gate will be closed to all motorized vehicle traffic for the winter season and is expected to re-open in the spring after winter precipitation has passed.

A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday at a Harbin Avenue residence for a gross misdemeanor warrant alleging abandonment of an elderly person, a sheriff's office report states.

CARSON CITY — Eagle Valley Middle School went "dough to dough" in the Parent Teacher Organization’s annual cookie dough fundraiser. In total, the gross sales were equivalent to more than $15,597. The school earned about 70 percent of total gross sales, bringing the net total to $11,034. A total of 888 units were sold.

On a beautiful Northern Nevada day, werewolves, pirates, escaped prisoners, witches, scuba divers, a Top Gun Tom Cruise look-alike, and other costumed creatures came out in force on Friday, October 30th to play in the Halloween Golf Scramble held at Silver Oak Golf to support the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada and the Carson City Chamber of Commerce.

We are reporting 111 new cases and 19 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. Of the 111 new cases, 100 are offenders and staff members from Warm Springs Correctional Center in Carson City. This brings the total number of cases to 2,127, with 1,809 recoveries and 26 deaths; 292 cases remain active.
