Nevada veterans honored this Veterans Day 2020 with video ceremony, proclamation
Join us in celebrating Veterans Day 2020. Due to most Veterans Day parades and other celebrations being cancelled this November because of COVID-19, Nevada Department of Veterans Services produced a video with support from the Nevada veterans and community leaders across the state highlighting what Veterans Day means to them, along with the following anniversaries:
— The 75th anniversary of the end of WWII;
— The 70th anniversary of the outbreak of Korean War;
— The 67th anniversary of the alliance between U.S.A. and the Republic of Korea; and
— The 30th Anniversary of the outbreak of the 1st Gulf War.
(Editor's Note: Carson Now Reader Bill Sweetwood noted the list provided by NDVS didn't mention World War I veterans, Vietnam War veterans and those veterans serving for the global war on terrorism, so we are adding that here. Thank you sir for bringing these fine Americans who served to our attention.)
Honor and celebrate Veterans Day today, Wed., Nov. 11, by viewing this special video production featuring:
— Governor Steve Sisolak
— Korean Consul General Honorable Kyung Jae Park
— Nevada National Guard Major General Ondra Berry
— Chairman Bill Bauman of the Nevada Veterans Services Commission
— Numerous Veterans Services Organizations
See the Governor's Proclamation here.
Thank you to Shane Whitecloud of the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System and the City of Reno for sharing footage and collaborating with NDVS on the Veterans Day video.
