Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is underway and agencies across the country are taking note. The Nevada Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence (NCEDSV) held its annual award program to kick it off. They enthusiastically honored Senator Julia Ratti.

The Nevada Press Foundation announced Thursday that it sold its headquarters building at 102 N. Curry St. in downtown Carson City earlier this month. Due to ongoing drought conditions and low water levels at Fallen Leaf Lake causing dry conditions in Taylor Creek, the Fall Fish Festival, held annually at the Lake Tahoe Forest Service visitor center, has been canceled. The festival was also canceled in 2020 due to COVID concerns.

A 30-year-old man was arrested early Thursday for suspicion of felony eluding, a felony parole violation warrant and five misdemeanor offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

The Carson City Symphony, directed by David Bugli, will open its 38th season on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, at 4 p.m., with “LatinXpressions II” at the Carson City Community Center's Bob Boldrick Theater, 851 E. CARSON CITY — Tuesday, the Communication Access Services program of the Aging and Disability Services Division of the Department of Health and Human Services is pleased to announce that services for Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Speech Impaired individuals in Nevada are transitioning to new community partners starting October 1, 2021.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has been receiving reports of check fraud scams related to social media outlets like Facebook and Instagram.

Several reports have been received from social media users who receive friend or follower requests from someone they believe they know. The suspects then sent messages asking for help cashing a check due to not having a bank account or other various excuses.
