Boys & Girls Club names Ambassador Award for Carson City Mayor Robert Crowell; honors 2021 recipient
In 2020, Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada honored the late Carson City mayor Robert Crowell with the Community Ambassador Award for his outstanding support of youth at BGCWN.
Mayor Bob embodied all that the award represents. He was always willing to show up for kids at the Club, whether it was signing autographs (which they loved), supporting events or being an advocate for BGCWN with the city; he was there to serve.
For this reason, BGCWN has named the Community Ambassador Award in his honor. Annually the award will be given to donors or businesses that go above and beyond to support youth and the Club.
The 2021 Robert Crowell Community Ambassador award recipient is Michael Hohl Automotive Group. For 20 years the Michael Hohl family has given to Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada.
From supporting literacy and arts to career and technical education programs, the company has been a spectacular community ambassador. The Subaru 'Share the Love Event' is a national initiative that creates a way for those purchasing vehicles to give back to local nonprofits, and each year Michael Hohl Subaru selects BGCWN as their beneficiary.
In 2021, Michael Hohl also partnered with the Club and the Hop & Mae Adams Foundation for the Rally for Youth campaign to connect community partners with Club kids. As the headline sponsor, Michael Hohl brought a Subaru to the Club, and from cars to technicians – they participated in a career program and taught youth how to take care of a vehicle.
Katie Leao Geiser, CEO of BGCWN said, “Mayor Bob lived by the motto that serving the community means serving everyone and doing the very best you can everyday. This award represents the unwavering commitment to our youth. It means a lot to us to have the Crowell family join us to present this award, and we are grateful to Michael Hohl Automotive Group for their service to our Clubs.”
