Occasionally, all that is needed to create a bit of success is a change in the setting. This was the case for Pioneer Academy senior, James Mason. Three years ago James joined the Pioneer family in search of a program that would help him feel more connected as an individual. He wasn’t doing poorly in his previous school, but he recognized he was not reaching his potential.

Local residents and groups appealing the Carson City Planning Committee’s approval of the Carson Valley Meats processing facility will be hosting a rally to protest the decision.

According to Jennifer Verive, one of the appellants who stated she is representing the neighborhood on Highway 50 East near the proposed location, residents are concerned with odors and sounds, uses of chemicals and their potential run off into Carson City’s drinking water, the potential for flies, what methods will be used, and how often animals will be on the property.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors appointed three members to the Carson City Airport Authority during the Thursday meeting. Prior to the vote, a citizen came forward stating that one member facing re-election had committed illegal acts by blocking the citizen's business from operating at the airport.

Carson City’s entertainment and dining scene will soon get a big boost. The Nashville Social Club is set to open next spring at 1105 South Carson Street.

Owned by long time Northern Nevada residents and married couple John Procaccini and Kitty McKay, the Nashville Social Club will serve hip Southern food and drink in its 125-seat dining room, lounge and sun porch. The venue also features two stages, a Music and Banquet Hall for up to 200 guests as well as a retail promenade with micro boutiques.

After nearly 3 years, the prosecution of Wilber Martinez-Guzman is finally coming to a close. During a status hearing Thursday morning in Washoe County District Court, Guzman pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including four First Degree Murder with Use of a Deadly Weapon charges.

UPDATE: The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for portions of western Nevada, including Carson City, Carson Valley, Reno and the greater Lake Tahoe area from Saturday night through Monday morning.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is Joining Forces with other Nevada Law Enforcement Agencies from October 28th through November 15th to enforce impaired driving/ riding laws and keep impaired drivers and riders off Nevada roadways.

According to the Nevada Day Treasure Hunt website, this year's medallion has been found in Kahle Park on Kingsbury Road in Lake Tahoe.

The winner's name has not been announced, but we will update with that information as it becomes available by the Nevada Day Treasure Hunt committee.
