Sierra Lutheran High School will host the 3rd Annual Christ IS Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Norm Brauer Gymnasium.

The Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Inc. (RSVP) is hosting a free pancake breakfast for all veterans on Veteran’s Day, Thursday, November 11, 2021.

This event will take place at the Carson City Elks Lodge on 515 N. Nevada Street, Carson City, from 9 to 11:00 a.m. All local senior veterans are invited to join RSVP for pancakes, sausages, and beverages. Celebrity chefs Charlie Abowd, Carson City Supervisor Stan Jones, and Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong will be serving pancakes.

The Carson City School District has two large projects under construction right now.

Local Rotarians will learn about them at the club’s next meeting on Tuesday, November 9th, at noon in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom.

The public is invited to attend to learn more about those projects.

CARSON CITY — On Nov. 5, the Nevada Department of Transportation and Q&D Construction completed the first season of a multi-year project to enhance the existing roadway and utility system along sections of State Routes 431 and 28 to help preserve pavement and protect Lake Tahoe.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors unanimously selected Carson City resident Robert L. Weise to recommend to fill the vacant senate seat shared between Washoe County and Carson City.

After Washoe County and Carson City each nominate an individual, they will jointly choose who will fill the senate seat.

In an effort to keep traffic on US50 and not in the neighborhoods in Meyers, a right-turn restriction pilot program was implemented this past summer.

With many weekend visitors leaving South Lake Tahoe during the same four-hour window, there is extra congestion on US50 in Meyers during this time. Combine this with heavy snowfall and highway closures, internet, and wayfinding apps finding more expeditious routes, people don't want to stay in line and leave in search of a quicker route.

A 23-year-old Silver Springs man was arrested early Friday morning for DUI 2nd after allegedly causing a crash on the freeway by driving in the wrong direction while under the influence.

Dan Stucky, Deputy Public Works Director, gave an update regarding Carson City’s affordable and workforce housing project known as Sierra Flats during Thursday’s Board of Supervisors meeting. The project would create 160 units specifically for those with lower incomes.

Coach Blair Roman has retired as Head Football Coach after 14 seasons leading the Senators Football Program. Coach Roman’s record at Carson High School was 81-63. The Senators won 6 league titles under his guidance: 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015. His teams also qualified for the playoffs 9 times.

Periods of gusty winds have moved into the Carson City, Carson Valley area Thursday morning as part of a weak weather system passing through.
