Carson City arrests: Man booked for allegedly stabbing victim in knee with knife
A 64-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon in which a person was stabbed in the knee with a knife, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
According to the report, deputies were dispatched at 7:57 p.m. to a motel in the 1300 block of North Carson Street for a battery report.
Deputies arrived and made contact with a man, later determined to be the suspect, Kevin Ives. He stated he had been hit by a beer bottle and did not want to file charges. He refused to write a statement and stopped talking as he sat on a couch in the front office and was tended to by paramedics.
Officers went to a room and began to take photos, and spoke with another person, who refused to file charges or write a report. In the room, deputies found and took pictures of blood on the floor, bed, wall and front door, as well as a white metal knife sitting on top of the refrigerator.
A deputy went to the hospital and spoke with the victim, who stated he and the suspect, Ives, had been in the room drinking when Ives started arguing with another person in the room. The victim said he heard a click and saw Ives had a knife and rushed the other person, trying to slash him in the neck.
The victim stated he jumped up and grabbed Ives arm and stopped him from attacking. He said he told Ives to drop the knife and that he would let him go. The suspect said that is when Ives stabbed him in the leg with the knife, the report states.
He told the deputy that he punched Ives in the head, as did the other person and said that the knife was dropped, where the victim picked it up and put it by the TV. The stabbing victim stated he pushed Ives out of the room and threw his bags into the parking lot. He stated he didn't want to write a statement or file charges, the arrest report states.
A deputy returned to speak with Ives, who was advised of his Miranda rights. Ives stated he wanted to talk. He stated he and the two others had been in rehab together and he paid for the motel room.
Ives stated the three had been drinking together and after more drinking, Ives began to make fun of one of the males for his sexual preference. Ives stated that both men attacked him and he defended himself. He stated there was not a knife involved and that he did not have one, the report states.
He completed a statement. His injuries were a broken nose, possible concussion and a small laceration to his right eye that required three stitches.
