November is Elks Veterans Remembrance Month
In an effort to recognize and support our nation’s veterans, Elks National President Keith Mills has proclaimed November to be Veterans Remembrance Month.
He urges all Americans to join the Elks in service to the veterans in your community.
Let us remember the words of Elk member, President John F. Kennedy, who said, “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them.”
Despite the challenges of the last year, the Elks lived by their pledge to never forget our veterans.
When the pandemic created a crisis for many veterans, Elks were there.
Carson City Elks Lodge #2177 members have supported the Veterans in various activities throughout the year such as donating and participating in Wreaths Across America, assisting in placing flags at the local cemetery on Memorial Day, visiting Veterans at the Reno VA hospital and providing goody bags to the patients, donating to the Veterans Guest House in Reno, assisting in providing wheelchairs to Veterans and their families and visiting Veterans in assisted facilities.
Once again the Lodge will again hold a free Veterans Day dinner for all Veterans in the area on Nov 12th, dinner will start at 6:00 PM. Cocktails at 5:00 PM.
As Veterans Day is observed on November 11th and with all of the Veteran activities being held in the area, it was decided by the lodge to hold the event a day later to give the opportunity to Veterans and their family to enjoy a beautiful dinner.
Please contact the lodge at 775-882-2177 if interested in attending.
