Carson City arrests: Drunk man can't find car at casino, throws fit and breaks slot service light
A 60-year-old Zephyr Cove man was arrested early Thursday morning for suspicion of gross misdemeanor destruction of property after allegedly being drunk and breaking a gaming service light fixture at a casino after he couldn't find his vehicle, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the casino in the 3800 block of South Carson Street in reference to an intoxicated subject. Deputies spoke with the suspect, who had red, watery eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person.
Deputies spoke with casino staff employees and learned the man had asked staff if he could park his car at the casino. An employee said he could. The man walked out of the casino and then came back in where he said he could not locate his vehicle, the arrest report states.
The suspect asked where his vehicle was located and staff told him where it was at. The suspect then became angry when staff wouldn't help him look for the vehicle and told one employee he would kick their ass. At that point, casino staff contacted law enforcement.
When law enforcement arrived deputies learned the suspect walked outside and then went back into the casino, where he walked over to a slot machine, banged on the corner of the machine, and then grabbed onto the machine's service light, breaking it off, and throwing it, the booking report states.
Deputies spoke with the suspect who admitted to breaking the light fixture because the staff was not helping him locate his vehicle. Deputies obtained video surveillance footage of the man damaging the service light, which casino staff provided an estimate of $250 to $300 to repair.
Casino staff completed a citizens arrest form. The man was arrested for suspicion of gross misdemeanor property destruction. The suspect agreed to a preliminary breath test with a result of .321. He was taken to the hospital for medical clearance and booked into jail. Bail: $2,000.
