Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Dec. 20-26, 2021. Closures are expected at the following locations due to road and utility work:

Carson City No. 2177 Elks volunteers, under the direction of Wayne Willson, Veteran’s chair, who came out on Dec. 9, a snowy morning, to assist in assembling goodie bags for the Veterans at the VA Hospital in Reno. Marci Deerfield, our Leading Knight, spent hours shopping for items the veterans would enjoy.

On December 17, 2021 at approximately 2:23 p.m., Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a wanted subject in the area of Ironwood Dr and Pinewood Dr located in Minden, NV.

The suspect, Thomas James Meagher, a 24-year-old Gardnerville resident, was wanted by the Nevada Department of Parolee and Probation and considered “armed and dangerous.”

You’ve probably never heard of Marc Weiner. The network news executive has never been in the public eye, at least not until a couple of years ago.

That’s when he became the subject of a New York Times Square ad campaign.

A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday morning in the 3400 block of Champion St. for felony possession of stolen property, felony possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding a peace officer, failure to obey a traffic control device, and a warrant for a suspended sentence.

Suddenly, with no advanced notice, like Santa’s Reindeer landing on the roof of Carson High, a face appeared on Senators Now Digital Media’s morning announcements Dec. 15, the face of Hollywood actor Jack Black saying, “Merry Christmas Carson High School, it’s me Santa Claus…just kidding, ha ha ha…it’s Jackie Blackie Claus.”

Weather and conditions permitting, the Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team will continue prescribed fire operations this week at Lake Tahoe. Operations will continue throughout much of the fall and winter seasons to help land managers reduce hazardous fuels that can feed unwanted wildfires. Smoke will be present.
