Carson City man arrested at gunpoint following car chase for possession of stolen vehicle, eluding, and more
A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday morning in the 3400 block of Champion St. for felony possession of stolen property, felony possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding a peace officer, failure to obey a traffic control device, and a warrant for a suspended sentence.
According to the report, Fernando Luna was arrested after deputies were patrolling in the area of Mayflower Way and Sherman Lane when they observed a vehicle fail to come to a complete stop at a stop sign.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop, but the vehicle refused to stop or pull over, but instead continued driving. The deputy followed the vehicle through several streets until it eventually pulled into a driveway on Champion St.
According to the report, the driver, identified as Luna, quickly exited the vehicle and appeared as if he were going to run into the residence, according to deputies.
The reporting deputy drew their weapon and aimed it at Luna and ordered him to stop, which he complied with. He was detained and placed in handcuffs.
On Dec. 8, the Investigations Division had executed a search warrant at the residence and located four tires that had been reported stolen along with a stolen U-Haul trailer. The owner of the residence stated both belonged to Luna.
Bail: $23,279, $3,000 cash only
