The Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space division have secured $4.3 million in grant funding on two projects in East Carson City.
According to Carson City Parks and Recreation Open Space Manager Lydnsey Boyer, the first grant received was in the amount of $2.4 million for the Prison Hill West trail.

Members of Knights of Columbus Council 4781 in Carson City presented a check for $1123.44 to Donna Clark, Executive Director of Eagle Valley Children's Home, on Thursday, Dec. 16.
The Knights raised the money with donations from their Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities. Members of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic church gave the donation to support Eagle Valley Children's Home and Nevada Special Olympics.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board on Wednesday, Dec. 15 approved an update to a regional mitigation fee for new projects. The updated mobility mitigation fee will help offset new, in-basin vehicle trips with investments in traffic-reducing projects, the agency said. The update replaces an air quality mitigation fee that has been in place for decades without annual updates for inflation.
