RENO — StartUpNV, a nonprofit statewide incubator and accelerator for Nevada-based startup companies, is again hosting Launch Rural Nevada Pitch Day, an annual event for anyone in rural Nevada with a business idea or existing business to pitch their concept, gain expert advice, and possibly win a cash prize to help make their business real.

A fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a semi truck happened Wednesday night in the area North Carson Street and Nye Lane, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong confirmed. The motorcycle rider died in the crash.

Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol division has identified a Carson City man involved in a fatal single vehicle crash early Sunday morning north of the capital city near the Washoe County line.

On Friday night I walked outside to let the dog out and when I looked up I was greeted by a great horned owl (Bubo virginianus). It was very curious and seemed to have no fear at all. It decided to hang out in the trees nearby for a while. Then on Sunday I went for a bike ride and saw another one, possibly the same one, only a couple blocks away.

A Carson City jail inmate who was at Carson Tahoe Hospital for a medical furlough was arrested Saturday for suspicion of felony escape by a prisoner and conspiracy to escape custody, a gross misdemeanor offense, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
