Will they make it in time? Outhouse racers to roll through Virginia City this weekend
World championship competitions are celebrated around the globe. But in Virginia City, such competitions are taken to levels beyond the wild and unusual, such as the International Camel and Ostrich Races earlier this month.
This weekend is yet another example with the 33rd annual World Championship Outhouse Races.
Potty humor is accepted, expected and encouraged at this hilarious event, which dates back to when outdoor plumbing was outlawed and angry residents took to the streets with their outhouses in protest. Hence a tradition was born.
The World Championship Outhouse Races pits teams of costumed outhouse racers against each other in an all-out potty race pushing their homemade outhouses down C Street toward the toilet paper finish line all to claim the latrine title.
The Parade of Outhouses begins Saturday and Sunday at noon with races immediately following.
