Sierra Junior Tennis Association is pleased to announce that 32 junior tennis players will compete in the first Sierra Junior Tennis Association (SJTA) tournament hosted at Carson High School today, Saturday, July 30.

John “Snowshoe” Thompson, carried the mail across the Sierra during winter snows for 20 years. He would carry 80 pounds of mail over the 180-mile round trip in just 5 days. He hand crafted his own snow skates, and would carry nothing more than a jacket, dried meat and matches. Thompson was a larger than life character, saving numerous lives, serving his community unwaveringly and devoted his life to the betterment of all.

The Carson City Classic Cinema Club, Garrett Lepire, and Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space are once again teaming up to present a schedule of free summer outdoor family movie nights at Mills Park. This Friday, July 29, will be the viewing of "Soul," a 2020 computer-animated film produced by Pixar Animation Studios that won two Academy Awards.

UPDATE 9:10AM: The condition of the patient is unknown at this time. He was flown by Care Flight to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno. Traffic in the area of Market and College and Emerson has been reopened, according to Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies.

Devil’s Ladder History Hike at Carson Pass: This is a walk down to the where the old highway crosses the Emigrant Trail at Devil’s Ladder. From there we will follow the wagon track to register rocks where the immigrants from the east wrote their names with grease from their wagon wheels.
