The Carson City School District’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce nine student winners of the 22nd Annual American Citizen Essay Contest. Each winner was recognized at the school board meeting Tuesday, Nov. 14, and received the following cash prizes: First Place: $100, Second Place: $50 and Third Place: $30. Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo on Monday announced Kris Sanchez as the incoming Director of the Department of Business and Industry. Sanchez was appointed after current Director Terry Reynolds announced his retirement this month.

A power outage north of Dayton off Six Mile Canyon Road and US-50 has affected more than 3,000 NV Energy customers Sunday morning.

The Reno City Council voted on Wednesday to sunset the 1,000 homes in 120 days program with 123 units completed, 611 units under building permit and 1,035 units under construction. The original program started in September 2019.
