The Carson City School District’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce nine student winners of the 22nd Annual American Citizen Essay Contest. Each winner was recognized at the school board meeting Tuesday, Nov. 14, and received the following cash prizes: First Place: $100, Second Place: $50 and Third Place: $30. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Minden will host a fast-track recruitment day, Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at 8:30 a.m. at the agency’s main office located at 1038 Buckeye Road in Minden. This first-ever in-person recruitment day condenses all required testing into a single day where interested applicants can get a jump-start on their law enforcement career.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Bryan Bibee, representing Kiwanis International, a service club with chapters in more than 80 countries and geographic areas around the world. Affiliated clubs make up a total of 600,000 members, who raise in excess of $100 million each year and donate 18.5 million volunteer hours in support of important community projects.

The Reno City Council voted on Wednesday to sunset the 1,000 homes in 120 days program with 123 units completed, 611 units under building permit and 1,035 units under construction. The original program started in September 2019.
