Clear Creek Bowmen will be hosting Tuesday Night Shoots from now until August at the Carson City Archery Range, located (just East of Eagle Valley Golf Course.

Miller Counseling is partnering with Douglas Center for Hope and Healing to offer grief support groups to Carson City and the surrounding rural communities Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m.

The Miller Counseling and Wellness Center is located at 104 W. Telegraph St. in Carson City.

The Center for Hope and Healing has been providing grief support to Douglas County for the last 10 years. The goal of building this partnership is to make the free support groups available and easier to access to more members of the Northern Nevada community.

The August 14 Coffee with Supervisor Schuette has been canceled. The next Coffee with Lisa is scheduled for September 11 from 7 - 8:30 am at the Cracker Box, 402 E. William St. All are invited to bring questions and share ideas.

The Carson City Democratics has announced open office hours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. seven days a week through Nov. 6. The office is located at 502 E. John St. Suite G.

The inaugural Healing in Harmony Festival will be coming to Carson City Saturday, Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Hosted by Erika Olivas of Aurora Heart Healing, this wellness fair will be a collaborative event of multiple holistic health practitioners who offer services locally. They’ll be on site to help raise awareness of natural healing methods, and the first 150 attendees will receive gift bags.

On Saturday, August 17, from 10:00-11:00 am, Donna Inversin will speak on “The Historic Virginia and Truckee Trail: From Old Railroad to Future Rail Trail.”

Donna Inversin will give a presentation on the nonprofit’s effort to find the remaining sections of old rail bed routes to bring them together in order to build a multi-use path of between sixty and eighty miles, which will echo the Virginia and Truckee Railroad. The trail is being designed for the benefit and enjoyment of the citizens and visitors of Northern Nevada.

Lea grew up Amish, listening to country music and singing in church. Lance grew up playing in a rock band on the Texas club scene. The two met randomly in Nashville, TN and after their first songwriting session together, formed a duo. Marked by old school country/rock influences with Texas blues guitar, storytelling lyrics, and soothing harmonies, their collaborative genius is on fire with over 500 songs written. Their music has garnered airplay in the UK, Ireland, and in Music City – Nashville Tennessee.

The finale fundraiser for the Watercolor Carson City plein air festival will be held Aug. 18. Thirty-three participating artists will present up to 99 paintings done en plein air during the event.

For Capital City Arts Initiative’s exhibition, "Sierra Watercolor Society Invitational," 18 SWS member artists shared their art presenting a wide array of images, visions, and painting techniques.

In this introductory class you will practice basic soldering techniques with a torch and learn how to make fitted rings, put texture on your ring bands and set small stones into a pre-made bezel setting on one of your handmade rings. You will make 3 rings / 2 with stones and 1 plain hammered band.
