This week's Women to Women Nevada features Dana Fruend and Doreen Mack, both active in numerous organizations with the intent on spreading the good news about downtown Carson City.

Fruend is President of Downtown 20/20, co-owner and marketing director at Agency 36, marketing manager at Carson Horseshoe Club and writer at Quick Throttle Magazine. Mack is the owner/president at Lofty Expressions, Inc., and Past President of Downtown 20/20.

All 23 Nevada State Parks are not affected by the government shutdown and remain open for all scheduled events.

"Autumn is awesome in Nevada's state parks for viewing fall colors, fishing, camping or setting up a hunting base camp," says Deputy Administrator Eric Johnson.

Featured stop on the Wine Walk: A unique art show displaying the non-skin works of art from Carson City’s finest tattoo artists at Mo and Sluggo’s Bar in Carson City, NV. Artistically INKlined 3: The Skull, will showcase the oil paintings, water color, air brush, and mixed media from 6 local shops and over 11 artists with special guest sculptor. Art INK 3 is from 1pm – 9 pm, during the October Downtown Wine Walk. The show is FREE to attend but is a fundraising event for the Brewery Arts Center’s Youth Art Programs.

A cold, dry air mass settling over eastern California and western Nevada will bring below normal temperatures for the next few nights and early mornings to the Carson City region, the National Weather Service reports.

With two successful job fairs this year that have sent more than 100 people to work locally, the third Carson City Job Fair will be held Friday, Oct. 4, at the Carson City Community Center. There will be 45 employers on hand to talk to job seekers and to accept resumes.

Hosted by Carson City Health and Human Services, JOIN and The Carson City Chamber of Commerce, the Fall Job Fair will be open to the public from 2 to 5 p.m. it will be held in the large gym area of the community center, 851 E. William Street.

A 31-year-old transient was being held without bail in Carson City Jail and facing a felony charge of being a fugitive from justice after being arrested in the 700 block of Richmond Avenue.

Ian Alexander Farmer, who has an Idaho license, was wanted by the San Diego Superior Court on a fugitive warrant. According to the arrest report from the Carson City Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to an address regarding a call for two men in the area selling goods and services, appearing to be suspicious.

UPDATE: Carson City supervisors unanimously approved $75,000 out of its contingency fund to spend on a fair at Fuji Park next summer as part of the Nevada Sesquicentennial festivities.

Supervisors agreed that the money from the contingency fund would be reimbursed back to the city by Nevada Day 2014. The fair will be held July 30 through Aug. 3.

Judge Jim Wilson will seek re-election as district court judge. Judge Wilson was elected to the First Judicial District Court, which serves Carson City and Storey County, in 2008.

Judge Wilson graduated from Carson High School, the University of Nevada, Reno, and McGeorge School of Law. He was a deputy district attorney and then Elko County District Attorney. He was in private practice in Carson City for 22 years before taking the bench.
