Carson City temperatures expected to drop to freezing tonight, Friday
Time to bring the tomato plants inside and, while you're at it, throw another blanket on the bed. At least for the next few nights.
A cold, dry air mass settling over eastern California and western Nevada will bring below normal temperatures for the next few nights and early mornings to the Carson City region, the National Weather Service reports.
Freezing temperatures are most likely late Friday night through early Saturday morning. While temperatures are likely to drop to near freezing in urban areas, lows in the 20s are expected across most lower elevations. For some locations, this may be the first freeze of the fall season.
Plants that are sensitive to cold temperatures should be covered or brought indoors, while pets and livestock should also be given adequate protection from the cold. Go here for a special weather statement from the National Weather Service.
