Man soliciting door-to-door in Carson City jailed on felony warrant

A 31-year-old transient was being held without bail in Carson City Jail and facing a felony charge of being a fugitive from justice after being arrested in the 700 block of Richmond Avenue.

Ian Alexander Farmer, who has an Idaho license, was wanted by the San Diego Superior Court on a fugitive warrant. According to the arrest report from the Carson City Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to an address regarding a call for two men in the area selling goods and services, appearing to be suspicious.

The men were knocking on doors and were stopped by Carson City deputies who asked for licenses and permits, which neither had.

Farmer had a booklet with at least two checks made out to his company and receipts with signatures that showed he was selling products.

During a warrants check through dispatch it was learned that Farmer had a felony warrant out of California with full extradition. He was taken into custody. There was a "no bail" for him awaiting extradition. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of solicitation without a permit. Bail for that, $632.
In a subsequent arrest, the other man, age 34 from Pittsburgh, Pa., faces a misdemeanor charge of soliciting without a permit.

Officers stopped the vehicle. Upon contact with the driver, officers could smell a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath, the report states. Officers asked the man if he had been drinking, which the man stated he had, the report states.

The man agreed to a field sobriety test and showed signs of impairment and provided a preliminary breath test with a result above .08, the arrest report states. Officers conducted a record check with dispatch who confirmed that the man was on alternative sentencing with an order to obey all laws.

The man was placed under arrest for DUI. While conducting inventory of the truck officers located a loaded Ruger .38 revolver in the truck.
