Here is the Carson City area road report for the week. On Saturday, October 26, Carson Street will be closed from Winnie Lane to Fairview Drive from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for the Nevada Day Parade and events. Detours will be signed.

Beginning Wednesday, October 23 through Friday, October 25, there will be work along the north side of Carson Street just north of the intersection with Hot Springs Road. The outside northbound lane on Carson Street at this location may be closed at times during the work period.

DAYTON, Nev. — Tyler Weworski of Carlsbad, Calif., fired a 4-under 68 in the final round to finish low qualifier by five shots at 14-under par 274 in the final round of Stage One Web.com Qualifying at Dayton Valley Golf Club.

Tony Finau of Lehi, Utah shot even par 72 to finish second at 9-under. John Catlin of Gold River, Calif., and Chris Gilman of Yorba Linda, Calif., finished in a tie for third at 8-under 280. Former Nevada Wolf Pack golfer Scott Smith also qualifies in 22nd spot at 1-over 289.

Three South Lake Tahoe residents were arrested Friday and stolen property was recovered after law officers found them attempting to burglarize a home at the Valley Crest Estates in the Indian Hills area of north Douglas County near Carson City, authorities said.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a scam involving a mobile auto body repairman who is asking for money to do on-the-spot vehicle repairs.

At least two residents have been taken in the scam, according to the sheriff's office, with one being followed to the bank for payment of service.

Saturday, Oct. 19, is Mediterranean Day at Villa Basque Deli and Café here in Carson City.

From 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. the public is invited, free of charge, to learn about and sample the foods from the Mediterranean area of the world which are making such a healthy difference to our bodies.

The lucky Tahoe local, in her 30s who wished to remain anonymous, hit the big payload on the IGT Wheel of Fortune® progressive slot for a total of $1,407,656.68 Wednesday evening in the High Limit Room. The winner played $100 before hitting the jackpot.

A cast of nearly 60 performers has been selected for Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company’s first-ever production of Les Misérables in November. The theatre company will present 10 performances of the famed international hit on weekends, Nov. 8-24, at the Carson City Community Center.

Nick Favero has been cast in the lead role Jean Valjean, whose dark life as a convict is transformed by a saintly bishop after he nearly returns to prison for stealing.

Restaurant inspections are made weekly by the Carson City Health and Human Services Environmental Health Division. This week's inspections, ending the week of Oct. 18, include restaurants, a convenience store and a retail grocery store bakery and meat department.
