Judge Jim Wilson filed for reelection as district court judge. His campaign committee includes: Roger Williams, Mary Pierczynski, Frank Flaherty, Bill Brewer, Ryan Russell, and Daniel Gonzales.

Judge Wilson was elected to the First Judicial District Court, which serves Carson City and Storey County, in 2008.

The Nevada Rural Housing Authority has 2013 Workforce Initiative Subsidy for Homeownership funds available to help first-time homebuyers with the necessary down payment to get into a home of their own, but they must be in contract by March 31, 2014.

In Carson City, the income limits are slightly higher and in Lyon and Churchill counties, they are slightly lower. Income limits can be found here.

Based on recent reports from the CDC, beginning in November 2013, there has been a number of reports of severe respiratory illness among young and middle-aged adults, many of whom were infected with Influenza A, the pandemic H1N1 2009 virus.

Two people were taken into custody by Carson City Sheriff's deputies in two separate cases of felony credit card fraud.

  • Eric Anthony Weber, 42, was arrested Thursday afternoon near Mark Way and Shady Tree Lane on a warrant alleging five felony counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, a gross misdemeanor count of conspiracy, and misdemeanor probation violation. His bail was set at $8,000.

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies are looking for a man who robbed the 7-Eleven at 3838 Highway 50 East early Friday morning.

According to deputies, the male entered the store at around 4:20 a.m. and waited until the clerk left her cash register and entered the store with a crowbar. He took the cash drawer and left the store on foot.

The male was approximately 5 foot 8 inches to 6 feet tall and was wearing a dark hooded jacket, dark pants and a dark cloth covering his face.

Former Carson High School principal Glen Edward Adair passed away on Dec. 25, 2013. He was 69. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 in Pittsfield, Mass. Memorial donations may be made to the Carson High School Scholarship Fund, 1111 N. Saliman Road, Carson City, NV 89701.

Carson City School District Superintendent Richard Stokes said Adair was a driven, high energy person who strived to make Carson High School the best it could be.

Restaurant inspections are made weekly by the Carson City Health and Human Services Environmental Health Division. Inspections for the week ending Dec. 31 include restaurants, fast food restaurants, a supermarket deli, meat department and a convenience store.

A Carson City man faces a felony charge of battery with a deadly weapon after allegedly stabbing a man Wednesday following an argument at a North Carson Street motel.

Billy Darrell Harris, 67, is being held in Carson City Jail on $30,000 bail. The victim was stabbed on the left side of his chest and was taken to the hospital. His wound was not life threatening.
