A 51-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday on a felony charge of probation violation and misdemeanor violation of bail conditions. Myron Buckley was being held without bail pending a hearing on the felony charge.

The driver of a vehicle involved in a high speed chase that began overnight in Stagecoach and ended in north Carson City remains at large, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.

NHP Trooper Dan Lopez said the chase began Thursday night at 11:02 p.m. when a trooper initiated a traffic stop after observing the driver of a Dodge Charger back his vehicle down the highway.

In an emotionally-charged issue that brought out passionate pleas for and against, Carson City supervisors agreed to a 1/8th-cent sales tax to fund several infrastructure projects.

The final vote was 4 to 1, with Supervisor Jim Shirk dissenting. John McKenna, who was seen as the swing vote, agreed in the end which allowed for a required two-thirds majority.

The executive director of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange is resigning. Jon Hager, who came under fire in a Feb. 13 exchange board meeting for cutting March 31 enrollment goals from 118,000 to 50,000, left the agency Thursday afternoon.

Foodies Bystro inside the Historic Carson Brewery in Carson City has announced the participants in Nevada's first Vegan Cuisine Challenge.

Each meat eating participant has agreed to live the life of a vegetarian for three days eating only vegan food. All participants will eat a vegetarian breakfast and join Foodies Bystro for lunch, dinner and dessert from its specialty designed vegan cuisine menu.

The Nevada Division of State Parks will hold a Feb. 27 workshop in Carson City to solicit comments on proposed regulations involving group camping fees and entrances fees for photographers with commercial photography permits.

The workshop will be from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Parks conference room of the Division Headquarters, 901 S. Stewart Street, Carson City.

South Lake Tahoe's Maddie Bowman won gold today in Sochi. She went into the Olympic Freeskiing Halfpipe finals sitting comfortably in third, led all women with an 89 in the finals.

Marie Martinod of France won silver and Ayana Onozuka of Japan won the bronze.

The South Tahoe High graduate, who won the last two XGames in the event, is competing in her first Olympics at age 20. She is now the first woman to ever win a gold medal in the inaugural Olympic Ski Halfpipe.

A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of felony vehicle burglary after deputies found him in possession of stolen debit and gift cards and a repair kit taken from an SUV.

Ezekial Brenn Okelley is being held on $55,824 bail. According to the arrest report, Carson City sheriff's deputies responded to an apartment complex in the 700 block of Silver Oak Drive after a report of a suspicious person checking car doors. The man was described by witnesses as wearing a gray hoodie, dark pants, beanie-style cap and carrying a backpack.
