A person was arrested early Thursday for suspicion of DUI, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

At around 2:35 a.m. a CCSO deputy was dispatched to the area of Blue Haven Lane for a non-injury crash. Dispatch advised the adult female driver hit a parked car and told them she was "driving drunk and hit a parked car," the arrest report states.

On Feb. 8 at 6:30pm, the Douglas County Historical Society presents a 55-minute Chautauqua presentation of Lake Tahoe’s wealthy and eccentric George and Elia Whittell. Local authors and historians David and Gayle Woodruff re-enact the characters of one of the wealthiest couples on the West Coast during the 1920s through 1950s.

The Carson City School Board took time to recognize band students from Carson High School in their Jan. 23 meeting. Freshman Jacob Blandford, French Horn; Senior Drea Cabral, Clarinet; Senior Nathan Parsons, Trumpet; and Senior Tessa Payan, Percussion, all earned a spot in All-State Band, which comprises the top band students from across the state of Nevada. Additionally, Parsons and Cabral are both celebrating their sixth consecutive year being selected for an all-state ensemble.

On Wednesday, the Carson City Board of Supervisors and Carson City Planning Commission held a joint meeting in order to discuss the Master Plan Update process.

The last time the Carson City Master Plan was updated was 2006, and a phased approach is currently underway.
