Hello fellow anglers. Welcome to winter, or is it? Our weather has been so crazy lately. A few weeks ago I was plowing snow and last weekend it was 66 degrees while I was fishing Topaz Lake in a tee shirt. But give it time. As we say in Nevada, if you don't like the weather, give it an hour or so.

Good things come in small packages and Autumn, our cat of the week, proves it.
She is a small, medium/long haired black kitten a little over 6 months old. She is a bundle of fun, love and energy. Autumn is very outgoing and makes friends quickly and easily with both cats and people. She has a bold and outgoing personality.

As storm watch ramps up, NV Energy is asking its customers to be prepared for possible outages in the wake of the snow headed our way.

Currently, several inches of heavy, wet snow are predicted to begin falling Saturday night into Sunday morning, and will continue through Tuesday.

The Friends of the Douglas County Library will host a two-day used book sale, Friday and Saturday, February 16-17, at the Minden Library, 1625 Library Lane, Minden.

The sale will feature paperback and hardcover fiction and nonfiction books, children's books, puzzles and more. A preview sale for members of Friends of the Douglas County Library will be from Noon to 3 pm on Friday, February 16; non-members can join at the door.

The Annual 4-H Fabric Sale will be held on February 3rd and 4th, 2024 at Fuji Park Exhibit Hall, 601 Old Clear Creek Rd in Carson City. Doors will be open on Saturday from 9 am to 4pm and Sunday from 9am to noon (weather depending.)

The first Lyon County Sheriff's Office saturation patrol of the New Year was conducted last Friday night, Jan. 26, 2024. The target of the saturation patrol was the Dayton patrol zone.

This event was unannounced, and the planning for the event began in December. One of the goals of the saturation patrol is to suppress crime in the designated area, even if it is for one night.

Trina has not only challenged herself throughout her high school career with Honors and/or AP classes in all core subjects, but she has also done exceedingly well in these rigorous classes.
