The University of Nevada, Reno’s Wolf Pack Marching Band is the “Pride of the Sierra,” and you can help support them by purchasing a drum card at any Greater Nevada Credit Union (GNCU) branch for only $1 this January.
GNCU will match your donation, and all money raised will go toward helping fund band scholarships, provide new uniforms, and cover travel expenses so the band can continue entertaining northern Nevada families and supporting Wolf Pack Athletics.

Put on your best cruise wear and get ready for hi-jinks and murder on the high seas. Tickets are now on sale for Proscenium Players’ “Murder on the Lust Boat” at the Gold Dust West Casino and Hotel, 2171 E. William St., Carson City.
Set sail with a dimwitted captain at the helm, a perky activities director with a lustful itinerary and a wacky boatload of likely suspects on a murder mystery cruise that spoofs “The Love Boat.” The show pokes fun at crazy on-board activities and no-talent entertainers. In the end, someone is murdered and it’s up to the audience to guess the culprit.

Lawmakers from across the country are contemplating whether it’s worthwhile to move into a domain that’s been almost exclusively Nevada’s since 1949 — legalized sports wagering.
But a top Las Vegas race and sports book director says that even if other states cleared the numerous legal and legislative hurdles to offer betting on sports in their states, it probably wouldn’t have a big effect on Nevada.

After selling 3,000 tickets during the holidays, Burning Man officials have announced the sale of 55,000 tickets for 2013.
According to the official Burning Man website, organizers say they've come up with a ticket sales plan to meet the needs of the "greatest number of people possible," given that there is a limited supply available.

A long-standing belief shared by many capital residents is that Carson City’s oldest tree dates back more than 200 years. During the nation’s birthday celebration in 1976, the massive cottonwood on the northwest corner of Division and Washington streets was designated the “Nevada Bicentennial Tree.” It still is marked as such with a large wooden plaque.
