Carson City Host Lions Club celebrates 90th anniversary; past international director will be guest speaker

The Carson City Host Lions Club will celebrate the 90th anniversary of its founding on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Gold Dust West Hotel and Casino with a Gala and banquet. Special guest speaker, Past International Director George L. “Mick” Barrus, will address the group.

Most people probably look at comic book and see the colorful characters, the eye-catching title or perhaps how worn the pages are which symbolize all the love bestowed upon them.

LAKE TAHOE, CA — Lake Tahoe is famous for its blueness. The growth and spread of algae is one reason blue lakes around the world can go green in the summer.

Algae forms the base of many food webs, and most algae in Lake Tahoe, though sometimes unattractive, does not pose a health risk to people or animals that enjoy the Lake.

Harmful algal blooms (HABs) are a different story.

Fairytale Express brings Disney characters to life at Mills Park Nevada Day weekend

Hello Carson City! Say hello to our newest pet of the week, Cream Puff!

The once Spicy now very sweet Cream Puff is in need of a happy home. Cream Puff first came to the Nevada Humane Society Carson City Animal Shelter as a kitten in March of 2020, and was adopted by a wonderful lady who loved him very, very much.

Gardnerville hosts their Main Street Fall Fest every year at Heritage Park, to offer families to come together to celebrate the beginning of fall.

This year, on Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. till 3 p.m., participants were having a blast walking around with their freshly built scarecrows while listening to the live entertainment, Mo'z Motley Blues, playing in the background.
